The fortified medieval village of Montecastello is known for its gorgeous castle of the Marchese Torrigiani Malaspina, which is situated on top of the hill, overlooking the hilly landscape of central Tuscany. The Marchese Torrigiani Malaspina is still living in his castle.Montecastello (200 inhabitants) has a bar, a small grocery store, and and a post office. The village is situated in the green Valdera landscape, between olive trees, although you are on a 25 minute distance of the Pisa Airport.
The marvelous restaurant Osteria Alpaca just outside the small village, has very good meals, made with ecological products.
